April 26, 2012 – On April 14, over a hundred volunteers gathered for the first annual Saint William Community Project and gave of their time and talent to help improve the lives of 15 families in Round Rock. Parish volunteers worked from early in the morning into the late afternoon on projects that included cleaning homes, landscaping, replacing doors, screens, and roofs for the different families that were in need of assistance.

Fr. Dean Wilhelm, Pastor at Saint William, and Fr. Jonathan Raia, Associate Pastor at Saint William, joined the group of volunteers at each work site and helped to complete the various projects.

“I had a wonderful time working at the site with my team,” commented Fr. Jonathan.  “This was a fantastic opportunity for people from many different parts of our church community to come together, on Divine Mercy weekend, and put the Lord’s mercy into concrete action.  I feel blessed to have been a part of it.”

At the end of the day, the group of volunteers came together to celebrate the day’s hard work at the
evening Mass where Fr. Jonathan gave volunteers a special blessing to recognize their contributions.

The community project was led by Diocese of Austin Seminarian, Craig DeYoung, who is serving his
pastoral year at Saint William.  “Thank you to the many parishioners, community volunteers and local businesses for their generous contributions of time and talent that made this day a success and helped to build up the Kingdom of God,” added Craig.

The Saint William Community project will be an annual event and serve as an opportunity for parishioners to give witness to the Holy Spirit at work in our world by giving back to those most in need in the Round Rock Community.
